Use the following procedures to create and manage modifiers in the Merchant portal.
Understanding modifiers
Modifiers allow customers to customize their orders. They consist of two parts:
Modifier groups: Subcategories, such as "Add Protein."
Options: Specific items within a group, such as "Chicken" or "Eggs."
Modifiers are added to Variations, such as Size.
Create a modifier group
To add a new modifier group, follow these steps:
In the merchant portal, go to Menu > Modifier groups.
Select Add new modifier group.
Enter a Name for internal use (not visible to guests) and a Title that will be visible to guests.
Provide a Description to help guests understand the customization, such as available flavours.
In the Apply to items list, select the items you want to attach this group to.
Specify the Minimum selectable options to indicate how many items a user must add (for example, "1") and the Maximum selectable options to limit choices.
Enter a Position order to determine where the group appears relative to others, such as placing "Veggies" (1) before "Protein" (2).
If applicable, turn on the Half/Half modifier toggle for items like pizza to allow customizations on specific sides.
Add options to a group
After creating a group, you can add specific customization choices:
Select Add existing options to reuse items from other groups, or select Create Option.
Enter the Name and Description for the specific option.
In Price Add on, enter the surcharge amount for the selection.
Specify the Position ordering to rank the item within the list (for example, "1" for the top of the list).
Enter a Maximum quantity to limit how many times a single option can be added to one item.
If you use a point-of-sale (POS) system like Square, enter the Integration UID to sync the modifier between the App and your Square.
Select Save, and then select Apply changes to finalize your updates.
