Add modifier groups to an item

To add modifier groups, you must configure them for each item variation individually.

1. Go to the item you want to update and select a variation.

2. In the Modifier groups section, select the groups you want to add (for example, Dressing or Milk).

3. Configure modifier settings (see below) are completed, click Apply and then click Apply changes on the top-right corner.

When you expand a modifier group, you can customize the following settings:

• Position order: Determines the order in which this group appears relative to others.

• Minimum selectable options: The minimum number of options a customer must select before they can add the item to their cart.

• Maximum selectable options: The maximum number of options a customer can select.

• Free modifier options: The number of options a customer can select at no additional cost. For example, if you enter 2, the first two selections are free, and any subsequent selections are paid.

• Pre-selected options: Sets an option as the default selection when a customer views the item. You can specify if a default option is included in the base price or carries an extra charge.

Syncing Modifier Groups from Square POS

If you use Square POS, most modifier group settings sync automatically, including positioning, pricing, and selection limits.

Note: The following settings do not sync:

• Location-specific modifiers: These are not currently supported because modifier groups are not location-specific in this system.

• Hide-only settings: This Square-specific setting does not currently sync.
