Creating A New Category

You can create categories in the Merchant Portal to organize your menu items and manage how they appear to your customers.

Create a category

1. Sign in to the Merchant Portal.

2. Go to Menu > Categories.

3. In the upper-right corner, select the orange New Category button.

4. On the Creating a Category page, you can customize the following fields:

   • Photo: Add an image for the category.

   • Category name: Enter a name for the category.

   • Order types: Choose which order types this category will be visible for.

   • Description: Add a brief description.

   • Prep time: Enter any additional time required for this specific category, then select minutes or hours.

   • Quantity Threshold: Set the number of items that can be prepped in the allotted prep time.

5. Choose a status for your category:

   • To hide the category from the app while you set it up, turn on the availability toggle to make it inactive.

   • To make the category visible immediately, keep the toggle turned off.

6. Manage your category:

   • Category placement: Enter a number to set the category position. Lower numbers appear higher on the page. For more details, see How to manage categories positioning from Merchant Portal.

   • Time and day limit: Restrict availability by setting specific days of the week or a range of dates. For more details, see Configure time and day limits for categories from Merchant Portal.

7. Once finished, click the orange Apply changes button on the top-right corner.

Your new category appears on the Categories page.
