Create Coupons & Add Restrictions

You can create percentage-based or fixed-amount discounts in the Merchant Portal and apply specific restrictions to control how they are used. Follow these procedures to set up your coupons.

Create a new coupon

  1. On the left menu of the Merchant Portal, go to Coupons.

  2. Select Add new coupon.

  3. Select a discount type:

Percentage: Enter a value, such as 50, for a 50% discount.

Dollar: Enter a fixed amount, such as 2, for a $2 discount

  4. In the Code box, enter a unique code.

  5. In the Title box, enter a descriptive name for the coupon.

  6. In Conditions, select the following options as needed:

    • Exclusive: Turn this on to ensure only this coupon applies to an order. Other applied coupons are removed.

    • Autoplay: Turn this on to apply the coupon automatically for eligible customers.

Add coupon restrictions

Use the Coupon restrictions section to define specific usage criteria.

  1. To set a timeframe, select Start date time.
Use the calendar to select a start date and time.

  2. Select Add New Restriction to include more restrictions, such as an end date.

  3. To limit the coupon to registered user type, go to User type and select Registered

  4. To limit the coupon to specific products, go to Item restrictions and select the applicable products.

  5. To set a minimum spend requirement, enter a value in Minimum purchase, such as $5.

These are some example of restrictions. If you need help, email us at support@craverapp.com, use the live chat in your Merchant Portal, or see below for more restriction details.

Finalize and test your coupon

  1. When you are finished with the configuration, select Apply changes.

  2. To verify the coupon, open your app and sign in.

  3. Add eligible items to your cart.

  4. Verify that the discount appears correctly in the cart subtotal.

Coupon Restrictions:

Start Date Time/End Date Time: Add start or end dates. Use the 'start date time' when programming your coupon ahead of the launch day.

Start Time Of Day/End Time Of Day: Use this for coupon that don't run all day, for example, happy hour discounts.

Days Of The Week: Coupon only available Monday to Friday? Use this coupon to select all the days it's available.

Category: If this coupon only applies to certain categories, select them here.

Item: If this coupon only applies to certain items, select them here.

Variations: If this coupon only applies to certain variations, select them here. For example, offer is only valid on small sized drinks.

Exclude Category, Exclude Item, Exclude Variation: The inverse of the above! For example, coupon is available on all drinks and food, but excludes retail coffee beans.

Location: Coupon is only available at some of your stores.

Users: Select specific registered users by name who will be able to use this coupon.

Per User: Number of times a specific user will be able to redeem this coupon

Min. Purchase: Minimum subtotal required before this coupon can apply

Min. Purchase After Coupon: Minimum purchase amount (subtotal) met after coupon is applied.

Max Items Count: How many items in one purchase this coupon will apply to.

Order Type: Want to exclude delivery or offer this coupon for dine-in only? Use this restriction to select the order types this coupon can apply to (if all order types apply, no need to add this restriction).

Order source: If you have mobile and web ordering, you can restrict the coupon to one option.

First Order Of Customer: Applies only to the first order placed by a registered user. Will not be available for users who are not registered.

Apply To Each Item: Discount applies to each qualifying item in the cart individually.

User Type: Restrict a coupon to only registered users or only guest users.

Maximum Redemption Count: Total number of this coupon you will give out. For example, 'first 50 customers to order get xx% off".

Note: We cannot limit the dollar amount of an order which a coupon applies to. For example, you offer 50% off your first order as a welcome coupon. If you are concerned about customers applying this to too large of an order, use the 'max items count' restriction.
